Jason Reusch3:53 pm - Nov 14, 2007
A brief outage of about two hours occured yesterday when the file system went into read only mode. A reboot and fsck brought things back online. The drive logged a few bad sectors. The drive may be on a death march. A new server is available and the plan is to set it up at home with Ubuntu 7.10 and migrate to it.
Jason Reusch9:53 am - May 4, 2007
SpamAssassin upgraded from 3.1.8 to 3.2.
Jason Reusch6:01 pm - Feb 14, 2007
SpamAssassin upgraded from 3.1.7 to 3.1.8.
Jason Reusch9:25 pm - Jan 1, 2007
The upgrade completed on Saturday. If you experience any problems you suspect may be related please email me. This was probably the last upgrade of Fedora. Now that the FedoraLegacy project is defunct it will be necessary to upgrade about every 9 months. That's a little to short a cycle than I'm comfortable with. Practicing and executing these upgrades is very time consuming. Expect a move to another distribution, Ubuntu is the leading candidate at the moment. Ubuntu promises at least an 18 month upgrade cycle and as long as 5 years with an LTS release (see Ubuntu.com). As usual, I'll practice the move on a test server first so the disruption should be minimal. I also expect this will be the last version of the server that exists as a physical server. Future servers will most likely be Xen virtual machines.
Jason Reusch12:50 pm - Dec 15, 2006
This server and all services will be down starting about 6AM on Saturday December 30th while the operating system is upgraded from Fedora Core 4 to Fedora Core 6. I expect the process to be complete by about 9AM, but it could go longer.
Jason Reusch9:34 pm - Nov 24, 2006
The backup server has been upgraded to Fedora 6. It was a little hairy, but not too bad. In another week or two I'll take the information learned from the practice run and upgrade the main server. It will probably result in about half a day of downtime.
Jason Reusch10:39 am - Nov 13, 2006
Fedora 4 is now in retirement with the release of Fedora 6. This server and the backup server are now setup to get updates from the FedoraLegacy project until I have time to get around to upgrading.
Jason Reusch7:09 pm - Oct 25, 2006
Just installed DCC and activated the SpamAssassin plugin that uses it.
Jason Reusch9:48 am - Oct 23, 2006
I've noticed a lot of stock spam lately. I checked the SpamAssassin mailing list archives and found this helpful message. I ran sa-update and set it to run as a daily cron job. We'll see if that helps...
Jason Reusch9:49 am - Oct 10, 2006
Updated SpamAssassin to 3.1.7 which was released today.
Jason Reusch10:05 pm - Oct 5, 2006
Updated SpamAssassin to 3.1.6 which was released today.
Jason Reusch11:32 pm - Aug 21, 2006
Updated all the horde applications to the latest versions, including HORE, IMP, TURBA, and INGO. Mostly bug fixes, but a few nice new features in webmail. The mailblock for messages sent to AOL has been lifted. It required setting up a reverse DNS entry and several calls to the AOL postmaster. A feedback loop is setup now to report any messages from this server that are reported as SPAM by an AOL user.
Jason Reusch3:38 pm - Jun 13, 2006
Updated Amavisd-new to 2.4.1.
Jason Reusch3:37 pm - Jun 13, 2006
Updated SpamAssassin to 3.1.3 and activated the razor, DKIM, and DomainKeys plugins.
Jason Reusch9:26 pm - May 19, 2006
Updated horde from 3.0.4 to 3.1.1 and IMP (webmail) from 4.0.3 to 4.1.1. Enoy!
Jason Reusch9:00 pm - Mar 23, 2006
Update complete! I got it all done last Friday night (the 17th). The hardware upgrade was first. I used ghost to transfer the system to a new P4 2Ghz machine with 1GB RAM and an 80GB HD. After that, the upgrade from Fedora Core 3 to Fedora Core 4 was next. It only took 10 minutes on the new hardware! I knew from practicing the upgrade on the backup server that serveral services had to be rebuilt, namely postfix and amavis. It all took about 3.5 hours.
Jason Reusch8:36 pm - Jan 8, 2006
The backup server has been upgraded to Fedora 4 and fully tested. All of the upgrading over time is starting to catch up with the server. I had to pretty much rip out and rebuild the entire mail system. Oh well. The process is fully documented. I'm planning on upgrading the real server (including an upgrade to 750MB RAM) sometime in the next few weeks. I'll post a downtime notice once I've found a good time. I expect the upgrade to take a good half a day.
Jason Reusch10:26 pm - Nov 20, 2005
126 days, 2 hours and 13 minutes since the last reboot. Tomorrow I leave for Japan and will be back on December 3rd. Let's hope that stability continues!
Jason Reusch5:14 pm - Jul 14, 2005
Just updated to McAfee VirusScan for Linux 4.4. Things have been running smoothly for a while now. I also recently setup reoback to handle backups. Now this server is rsynced every night to the backup server at my house and daily backups are taken there (thanks to reoback).
Jason Reusch9:24 pm - May 9, 2005
Webmail now upgraded to horde 3.0.4 and IMP 4.0.3 after testing on the backup server. The new version supports rich text editing and some other nice features. Let me know if you encounter any problem.s
Jason Reusch5:59 pm - Apr 11, 2005
I brought a new backup server (mackenreusch) up. It has more disk space and gave me a chance to practice the disaster recovery scenario again. The hardware is identical except it's gone from a single 10GB drive to a 20GB and 60GB drive. Lots more space to store backups now! Also ran a yum update and updated 29 packages on the test server then updated the production server.
Jason Reusch12:17 pm - Feb 27, 2005
Move complete. The DSL line and mackenreusch have been up since Wednesday. My DSL connection is now 3Mbps/384Kbps. I might consider moving the main server home depending on how stable the connection proves.
Jason Reusch4:58 pm - Feb 21, 2005
The backup server (mackenreusch) will be going offline until at least late Wednesday while I move. Everything on this server will be unaffected. I plan to copy a backup of the email, web, and database content during the outage.
Jason Reusch10:25 pm - Jan 16, 2005
Suffered about a 20 minute outage Friday morning. A space heater conspired to create some electrical difficulties. Took out my binary clock and USB disco lights too. After a little under the desk cable wrangling (and a new UPS later that afternoon) all is well. Should get a good 20 minutes if battery operation from this one.
Jason Reusch9:59 pm - Jan 10, 2005
Upgraded SpamAssassin 3.0.1 -> 3.0.2 and razor from 2.61 -> 2.67, also ran a yum update to update all packages.
Jason Reusch9:42 am - Nov 26, 2004
Upgrade complete! I had to work today, so I decided to come in early and do the upgrade while everyone is sleeping off their turkey hangovers. It only took 40 minutes from inserting the first CD and rebooting to finishing setting up the new IMAP server. Everything appears to be in perfect working order. If you run into any problems, let me know. On the bright side, the new IMAP server seems to be much faster when dealing with folders containing a large number of messages.
Jason Reusch11:06 pm - Nov 22, 2004
I completed practicing the upgrade on the backup server (mackenreusch). The upgrade from RedHat 8 to Fedora Core 3 is suprisingly easy. Most complications were caused by incompatible customizations (like mod_mono not loading). Got everything sorted out pretty easily. The only really challenging problem was the IMAP server. We were running an old version of UW IMAP. A bit of digging turned up dovecot. It's compatible with UW IMAP mbox files but is a heck of a lot easier to configure. I think I'm ready to do the real upgrade now. It should take about two hours, one to perform the upgrade and another to make the necessary configuration changes and test everything. I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday morning might be a good time...
Jason Reusch8:39 pm - Nov 15, 2004
I banned the IP address 62.56.191.244 from connecting to SMTP. The host at that address is infected with Netsky.p and is responsible for the majority of viruses sent to this server. In other news, it looks like FedoraLegacy has dropped support for RedHat 8 (that's what this server is running). Now that the last reliable source of patches and updates is gone it's time to upgrade. After discussions with Allen I think we've settled on going Fedora. Going to another distro like Gentoo might be fun, but this server now supports about two dozen users making stability and reliability more important considerations than in the past. RedHat Enterprise would be very stable, but goes against the cheapskate hobbyist mentaility of this operation. Fedora Core 3 was just released, so if we upgrade soon we can probably last at least a year without a major upgrade.
Jason Reusch3:33 pm - Oct 28, 2004
Upgraded horde from 2.2.3 to 2.2.7, imp from 3.2.1 to 3.2.6, and turba from 1.1 to 1.2.2. Mostly bug fixes and minor enhacements.
Jason Reusch9:59 am - Oct 25, 2004
Updated to Spamassassin 3.0.1 (bugfix release). A storm knocked out my DSL modem and the NIC connected to the modem. I replaced the DSL modem (thanks to Butler.net!) but I still have to dig in and fix my smoothwall box. The backup server is offline temporarily as a result.
Jason Reusch4:38 pm - Sep 26, 2004
Updated to Spamassassin 3.0 final on Sep 23rd.
Jason Reusch10:24 am - Sep 20, 2004
Updated to Spamassassin 3.0 RC5.
Jason Reusch8:07 pm - Sep 6, 2004
Updated to Spamassassin 3.0 RC3.
Jason Reusch2:19 pm - Aug 30, 2004
Make that Spamassassin 3 RC2, it was just released. ;)
Jason Reusch2:10 pm - Aug 30, 2004
Spamassassin updated to RC1. The backup server at my house is finished and rsyncs up with this server every night. It's been working well for a few weeks now. I might set it to sync email folders every 4 hours to reduce data loss in a total disaster.
Jason Reusch2:34 pm - Jul 13, 2004
A few quick bits of news. First, this server's evil twin, mackenreusch, is now alive! I used mkcdrec to do a bare metal restore of this box to an identical system at home. I'm working to setup rsync to backup all home directories (where email is stored) and web directories to the backup server nightly. In case of a total disaster, I can just update the DNS entries to go to my house and we're back in business. Now that's a warm spare on the cheap! Also, two changes to the postfix setup. Messages to local users that don't exist are now rejected at the SMTP connection instead of the mail being accepted then bounced. Email claiming to be from domains that don't exist (like deals@123213.ckasdf.com) are rejected at the SMTP level.
Jason Reusch9:23 pm - Jul 2, 2004
Got the virus scanner mess sorted out. Every time I tried to install the latest virus definitions the scanner would fail. Reverting to older definitions got it working again, but a virus scanner you can't update isn't very useful. I first thought it was a problem with amavisd-new, so I updated to the latest version. No luck. After digging around a bit I found this. Turns out McAfee cut off support for the version of the scanner engine I had installed. After some more digging, I finally found the updated engine (it wasn't easy, all the links are to the windows version, I found the link by chance buried at the bottom of the readme.
Jason Reusch9:56 am - Jun 20, 2004
Mail delivery stopped sometime on Thursday July 17th. I was in England at the time and tried to troubleshoot armed only with my Blackberry. I was able to determine the webserver worked, and login to webmail. So that left only SMTP as the problem. A call to a friend got the box rebooted, but that didn't fix it. I got back to London today where I have my laptop and wireless access and was able to do some proper diagnosis. Turns out the virus scanner was the problem. Emails are not delivered until they go through the virus scanner. I reinstalled the latest version of McAfee for UNIX and that seems to have fixed it. Over 5000 messages in the queue are being delivered as I write this. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Jason Reusch9:01 pm - May 27, 2004
I think I finally fixed a problem with SpamAssassin not running some tests. It was caused by improper handling of unicode. Should be more accurate now.
Jason Reusch8:05 pm - May 14, 2004
Breif outage yesterday as my IP address was pulled out from under me. To make a long story short, I realized I never requested a static IP for this box. It's rebooted so infrequently, it just kept the same lease for over a year! I requested a static IP at the same address, but the DHCP powers that be assigned a new one. Oh well. In unrelated news, I setup yum and configured it to get updates from fedoralegacy.org. It beats upgrading or switching to another distro until there's a good reason to do so.
Jason Reusch11:30 am - May 4, 2004
Upgraded to SpamAssassin 3.0. It's still a development release, but I've been running it as a single user install for a few weeks and it's been very stable and very accurate so I installed it system wide. Enjoy!
Jason Reusch9:36 pm - Apr 10, 2004
I decided it was time for more graphs. I created a version of the email traffic graph that displays the traffic as a proportion of the total.
Jason Reusch9:45 pm - Mar 17, 2004
The funds are rolling in! Now we're at $5.04. Thanks to those faithfully buying from Amazon to support us. I figured I should earn my keep and finally got around to writing a script to update the virus definitions automatically. A worthwhile project with all these worms running around. Updates are now checked for hourly. I also setup mono which is an open source port of .NET. It wasn't all that hard to setup and seems to work well. Now I just need to figure out something useful to do with it. If you run one of the websites hosted here and want to run ASP.NET, just let me know.
Jason Reusch1:17 pm - Mar 8, 2004
Wow! Someone actually used the amazon link to buy something! That's $2.24 in the reusch.net bank.
Jason Reusch9:22 pm - Feb 16, 2004
I accidentally unplugged the network switch this morning and didn't notice it for about an hour this morning resulting in a the server being unavailable during that time.
Jason Reusch8:45 am - Jan 28, 2004
217 instances of the myDoom virus were caught yesterday. Good thing I was up the night before and saw it on slashdot and updated the virus definitions!
Jason Reusch9:14 am - Jan 23, 2004
Updated SpamAssassin to 2.63 yesterday.
Jason Reusch1:10 pm - Jan 20, 2004
Updated SpamAssassin to 2.62.
Jason Reusch8:58 am - Dec 17, 2003
Updated about a dozen packages this morning. All bugfix releases, nothing exciting.
Jason Reusch3:01 pm - Dec 12, 2003
Upgraded from SpamAssassin 2.60 to 2.61. Mostly a bugfix release.
Jason Reusch3:29 pm - Nov 12, 2003
I finally posted a picture of the new server.
Jason Reusch9:59 pm - Oct 21, 2003
I just noticed I never turned on the spell checker for IMP! Opps. It's turned on now.
Jason Reusch5:22 pm - Oct 13, 2003
Updated SpamAssassin to version 2.60. A whole bunch of nice fixes to make it more accurate.
Jason Reusch12:09 pm - Aug 30, 2003
My DSL connection has been in and out for six days now (since the 26th). The problem has finally been traced back to noise on the line. BellSouth expects to have the problem fixed by Monday (Sept 1st). The server is making a temporary home for itself in my office at work until the DSL situation gets worked out.
Jason Reusch10:38 pm - Aug 26, 2003
A tough day for the datacenter. About 6 hours of downtime today. I figured it was a DSL outage, but when I got home, shutting down the smoothwall box and turning it back on did the trick (a reboot didn't for some reason). There was some intermitent flakiness after that. I disabled snort, we'll see if that helps.
Jason Reusch11:05 pm - Aug 23, 2003
After another 81 SoBig.F's today I decided to turn off notifications to senders and recipients. The email world could do with a little less traffic.
Jason Reusch9:31 pm - Aug 22, 2003
A power outage knocked things offline for about an hour last night starting at 11:15pm CST. The Internet wide mess created by all the worms is in full swing. 43 Sobig.F worms stopped yesterday and 75 so far today. The firewall blocked 1131 attempts to connect to port 135 so far today from MSBLASTER. Between power outages and worms, running your own server is a tough business these days!
Jason Reusch10:48 pm - Aug 6, 2003
A few snags over the past 24 hours. First I updated the postfix package to fix a security vulnerability. RPM updates are not supposed to overwrite config files, but instead create .rpmnew files of any conf files that have changed. I guess they forgot to include the SASL conf file because when I updated the postfix package it set the SASL config used by postfix for SMTP auth to SASLDB. This broke SMTP auth for a while, until I figured it out and set the file back to PASSWD auth. A power outage this afternoon at 4:26pm brought the data center offline until 5:35pm. Surprisingly the 8 year old UPS held out for 14 minutes. I was thinking about replacing it, but given that impressive performance I think I won't bother. Two important lessons from the power failure - 1) I forgot to plug the DSL modem into the UPS and 2) the data center is setup to recover from a power outage on its own once power is restored. Everything came back up on its own when power was restored without having to press any buttons or manually do anything. That's good news if a power outage occurs while I'm away.
Jason Reusch10:33 pm - Jul 13, 2003
Turba, the addressbook application for webmail, is now upgraded to 1.2 from 1.1. See this document for relevant changes.
Jason Reusch8:00 pm - Jul 13, 2003
Installed the new switch today and upgraded horde to 2.2.3 from 2.0.
Jason Reusch7:10 pm - Jul 5, 2003
I picked up a Netgear 5-port 10/100 switch. With rebates and coupons the total price was only $6.28 cents. At that price I couldn't resist replacing the old 3com 10Mbit hub the DMZ is on with a 10/100 switch. I'll probably install it Sunday night when I get back home.
Jason Reusch10:48 pm - Jul 4, 2003
Added viruses found to the email graph. That was easy. Also updated the logos page. Next I need to get a pciture of the new data center up.
Jason Reusch10:06 pm - Jul 4, 2003
The email graph is now working on the new server and will be updated daily. I'll add viruses found to the graph next. Also need to update the logos and server info.
Jason Reusch11:16 pm - Jul 2, 2003
Just when you think all is quiet in your homegrown data center... I setup Apache to force SSL for webmail. Everything seemed to work fine until I tried to open my Deleted Items or Mackenab folder. IE just hung. It turns out the problem is only with IE (it worked fine in Opera) and over SSL (it worked fine over regular HTTP). After much frustration and googling, I came upon this link. The problem described is similar so I decided to give it a shot. It worked like a charm. I guess there's some obscure bug in IE handling compressed pages over SSL.
Jason Reusch9:34 pm - Jul 2, 2003
The server move is complete! A few minor gotchas, but overall the move went very well. All email and web services are hosted here on this server in Nashville now. Webmail and imap are much faster and the virus scanner for email has been catching about a dozen viruses a day. I just setup our own certificate authority as well. We can now issue our own signed certs. No more trusting each cert for webmail, imap over ssl, etc. Just trust the CA cert and all other certs are trusted! To install the cert click on the link under the 'What is reusch.net?' heading. Webmail has a signed cert already. I'll setup the certs for SMTP, POP, and IMAP later in the week.
Jason Reusch11:09 am - May 2, 2003
The home datacenter (generous use of the term) is back and better than before. The DSL service from butler.net is great. This server is still working great (81 days uptime!) and will remain the email server until sometime this summer when we move email services to the new server (already the web server).
Jason Reusch3:32 pm - Feb 21, 2003
It's about time I posted an update. The new server is complete and fully operational, but not serving email. All web sites (except this one, I haven't gotten around to moving it yet) are hosted on the new server. My DSL provider, DirecTV, decided to go out of business, so I moved the new server to work. Rather than have to disrupt email users with two moves, one to work, then one back, I decided just to leave email in Philly and host the websites in Nashville. My home datacenter should be back online by mid-March and I'll complete the move then. In the meantime, things are chugging along fine on the old server. After the move, we'll probably use the old one as a backup MX server and maybe a DNS server if we decide to provide our own DNS.
Jason Reusch9:36 pm - Nov 9, 2002
A brand new server is in the works. When it's complete reusch.net will move from Philly to Nashville. The new server is a PIII 500 with 384MB RAM and 20GB of disk space. It will feature RedHat 8, Apache 2, and postifx! The new server is up and running at home.reusch.net. The transition will take place in a few weeks.
Jason Reusch1:34 pm - Sep 23, 2002
We set a new record for email traffic on September 17th. 545 messages received and 559 messages sent! That's 1104 messages in one day.
Jason Reusch10:22 am - Sep 13, 2002
Updated all available packages this week. Nothing too exciting, just patches mostly. The php updates did break some things beucase of changes in the php.ini file, but that was cleared up with a little help from the old config file and diff.
Jason Reusch10:05 am - Aug 7, 2002
Added 128MB RAM just now. Now we're at 192MB total. Our actual usage was hovering around 90MB so this should eliminate any swap file use and speed things up.
Jason Reusch11:17 am - Jul 31, 2002
Move complete! reusch.net now lives at 67.40.204.145. During the move a full check of the file system ran and everything checked out ok. Maybe now we can try for some decent uptime!
Jason Reusch12:22 pm - Jul 30, 2002
An updated web access to email went live a few minutes ago. It includes an upgrade from Horde 2.0 to 2.1, IMP 3.0 to 3.1, and Turba 1.0 to 1.1. The addressbook integration is much better, the help link actually works, and it no longer uses SSL to access to the IMAP server which added some unecessary overhead. Oh, and I replaced the broken hub the other day with an old 3com 10mbit hub I found.
Jason Reusch2:34 pm - Jul 29, 2002
It'a time for the server to move to a new home once again. The new home will be at 67.40.204.145. The move will take place Wednesday July 31st between 9-11AM. A backup mailserver will be in place at the old address to ensure no mail is lost.
Jason Reusch11:05 pm - Jul 17, 2002
The hub connecting reusch.net to the rest of the world failed. Of course, at the time I wasn't home. Luckily Allen was and alerted me to the problem, or I might have come home and gone to bed without fixing the problem. I dug up a crossover cable and connected reusch.net directly to the router-firewall for the time being. Jason's law: "Hubs never fail except when you are out for pizza."
Jason Reusch10:17 am - Jun 20, 2002
SpamAssassin is now operational as the spamd/spamc client server package. This configuration is supposed to be about four times faster than just running the perl script. Also, a security vulnerability was discovered in Apache. I updated the Apache package from 1.3.24-11 to 1.3.24-14 this morning to correct it.
Jason Reusch6:03 pm - Jun 5, 2002
The move is over. When we moved the server we were forced to reboot it (for the first time in almost 80 days) and discovered the filesystem was corrupt and the hard drive dying. After two days of hard work, we have replaced the old 2GB drive with a 7GB drive, installed RedHat 7.3 (a nice upgrade from 7.1), restored all email from the old drive, and restored all services to working order. Luckily, we had a backup mail server handy and set it up to receive and queue mail until reusch.net was back in action. Despite all the problems, no mail was lost and we know of only one bounced message. The new DSL connection has lower latency, so server responsiveness should be better. Enjoy the new and improved server!
Jason Reusch5:06 pm - May 23, 2002
reusch.net will be moving to a new home sometime next week. I'm moving offices at work and now that I have a static IP at home, I figured it was a good time to move the server home since I have to move it anyway. The move will probably take place on Friday of next week (May 31st). The maximum downtime will be just a few hours (and no mail will be lost during that time, it will be delivered to the backup server). If this date presents a real problem for anyone, let me know.
Jason Reusch4:34 pm - Apr 12, 2002
I've started receiving enough spam that it's motivated me to do something about it. I setup Spam Assassin today. It's a spam filter with excellent rules and scoring to determine what is and what isn't spam. After installing it, I just setup my .qmail file to deliver to procmail, then setup my .procmailrc file to run the mail through Spam Assassin before delivery. If it works well, we might impement it system wide. If you would like to try it out in the meantime, send me an email
Jason Reusch4:57 pm - Apr 5, 2002
Fixed two minor glitches with IMP. The 'Expand Names' feature wasn't searching the default address book properly and funky charset headers were appended to messages if you didn't use the default identity. Expand Names was fixed by directing imp to the right addressbook stored in mySQL, and the identity problem was fixed by enabling selection of the language on login.
Jason Reusch11:21 pm - Mar 29, 2002
I setup a backup MX server at home. Now if this server is ever unavailable for some reason, mail will be delivered to the backup and held there until this server becomes available again.
Jason Reusch12:31 am - Mar 25, 2002
Another marginally useful mySQL project, the reusch.net factoid, is now in place. You can find the marginally informative factoids from this marginally useful project on the top left of the page, just below the emails in and out. There are only two factoids in the database now, but more are on the way
Jason Reusch4:32 pm - Mar 19, 2002
The uptime (how long it's been since the last restart) displayed at the top left of the page is now nicely formatted in a more readable form.
Jason Reusch10:58 am - Mar 19, 2002
Just when you thought the cool email graph couldn't get any cooler, it did. It shows the total messages received and sent as well as just received and sent seperately.
Allen MacKenzie7:40 pm - Mar 17, 2002
Reusch.net now supports mailing lists! This afternoon, I installed a mailing list manager called ezmlm which works with qmail. Users of reusch.net can now run mailing lists; contact us if you are interested in setting up a list.
Jason Reusch4:28 pm - Mar 15, 2002
This just in... The link to the news archive has been renamed from 'news archive' to 'boring news archvie'. Sorry, I couldn't resist the irony of a news item about the news link, especially when the news is so boring.
Jason Reusch4:25 pm - Mar 15, 2002
The fun here at reusch.net never stops. The site now has a new look and two whole new pages! Check out the dumb logos page and the cool email graph page. The astute reader will note that the email graph page is really only half new, the graph was there before, but now it's got it's own page! IMP 3.0 (the webmail program) is up and running! Check it out at web.reusch.net. This is a still a work in progress. IMP 3 is very configurable. Once everything is setup the way we like it, we'll redirect all the mail.domains there. If you have any suggestions for how you would like IMP configured submit them to jason@reusch.net.

A serious security vulnerability was recently found in PHP. The workaround broke IMP (it took our brains a while to make the connection between turning off the file_upload feature of PHP and a broken IMP). In any case, PHP is now updated to 4.0.6 and IMP is again fully functional.

This past weekend TCPServer died. After many hours of troubleshooting, Allen managed to find the problem. TCPServer was hanging on reverse lookups of it's own hostname. Turning off the lookups fixed the problem, but doesn't explain why it worked for several weeks with it turned on. We suspect outages of our ISP's DNS server may be to blame.

Allen modified the log rotate script to restart the poplogger daemon. That should fix any problems with it dying when the logs are rotated. Thanks Allen!
